Visual OMPTM 6.3 Upgrade Released to All Customers
Ann Arbor, Mich. – February 27, 2008 – DNA Software is pleased to announce the release of Visual OMPTM 6.3, which can now simulate assays that include betaine.
Betaine (PCR buffer additive):
There are several reports in the literature that the PCR buffer additive betaine monohydrate increases the specificity of primer hybridization to a target template in low performance PCR; however, betaine’s effect on oligonucleotide hybridization thermodynamics has never been determined. As a result, researchers have not been able to accurately model their assay designs in silico – that is, until now.
DNA Software has conducted extensive oligonucleotide hybridization experiments and discovered betaine’s effect on the hybridization thermodynamics of primers and probes to both G-C and A-T rich targets. The resulting thermodynamic parameters have been added to DNA Software’s large proprietary OMPTM database and engine that drives Visual OMPTM, which is the most accurate and comprehensive software tool for the design, simulation, and analysis of probes/primers, Multiplex PCR, Scorpions, Taqman, Beacons, Microarrays, Allele Specific and FRET assays, RNAi, and new formats. No other software program includes betaine and can account for its effect on the total assay thermodynamics.
DNA Software is a first-rate science and software company that is focused on cutting-edge R&D, continuous improvement, and customer service. DNA Software customers automatically receive free tech support and upgrades, including Visual OMPTM 6.3, as part of their software license.
Visual OMPTM 6.3 Upgrade Summary:
· Betaine Monohydrate (PCR buffer additive) Free Energy Correction.
· Bulk Edit function to simultaneously edit multiple sequence/design rows. This function can be used along with the new filter function to selectively edit multiple entries.
· Filter function to selectively show sequence/design rows to facilitate analysis or editing.
· Restriction Enzyme Function to find cut-sites and resulting fragments. The restriction fragments can be added to the experiment and then simulated in silico.
· Duplex Polymer Salt Correction is defaulted to be always on for more accurate Free Energy Corrections for oligonucleotide designs > 16 nucleotides.
These new features combined with updated and improved default design strategies create a powerful new Visual OMPTM. For a complete list of all of the features of the new version, please visit our Version History page.
