Innovative Solutions for Nucleic Acid Research

Company

History:

DNA Software, Inc. (DNAS) was founded in December 2000, and has from its inception applied state-of-the art software simulation techniques and deep scientific expertise to model the interactions of nucleic acids in genomic assays in-silico.  During this time, the company performed custom research and software projects.  Eventually, this work was embodied in our core technology, the Oligonucleotide Modeling PlatformTM (OMPTM), which builds on the science of Dr. John SantaLucia, one of the world’s leading authorities on nucleic acid hybridization.  The Company's first commercial product, Visual OMPTM, was introduced to the market in June 2003 as a result of The State of Michigan's investment in DNAS.  OMP Developer EditionTM was also offered for high-throughput, computer cluster applications.  In 2007, DNAS released significant upgrades to Visual OMPTM.  Moreover, the Company added a break-through, structural biology technology called Nucleic Acid CADTM to its portfolio.  In 2008, DNA Software launched ThermoBLASTTM, a paradigm-shifting software tool for genome scanning that significantly improves assay and diagnositcs development.  DNAS is continuously improving it core OMPTM technologies through feature enhancement, usability improvements, and expanding and incorporating the scientific data from a variety of sources, which serves as the backbone for the OMPTM simulation engine.

Research and Commercial Awards:

Throughout its history, DNA Software has been very successful in obtaining research and commercialization grants for its cutting edge science and technology.  In addition to The State of Michigan’s commercialization award, DNAS has successfully attained six National Institutes of Health (NIH) SBIR grants and a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) contract.  Such funding has contributed to the company’s ongoing R&D.

Established Partner:

As an established entity with eight years of commercial experience, DNA Software is well-aware of the needs and requirements of its user base.  The Company offers its products through annual licensing, which allows researchers to use its products without committing large amounts of capital upfront.  In addition, DNAS offers custom consulting projects on a fee-for-service basis.  DNA Software has been very successful in establishing strategic relationships with government, academic, and commercial organizations.  The unique capabilities of OMPTM, ongoing wet lab and software R&D improvements, first-rate consulting solutions, and cutting-edge product developments have made DNAS an attractive partner to advanced life science researchers and commercial interests.
